
On March 29, 2025, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa conducted an inspection of the venues that will be used for training and practice by teams participating in the 2025 CHAN tournament and the 2027 AFCON, in collaboration with Kenya and Uganda.
Following the inspection, Majaliwa instructed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports, and the Secretary-General of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to assess the progress of the construction and renovation works for the training venues that will be used in these tournaments.
This directive came after receiving a report from Brigadier General Petro Ngata, the Executive Director of SUMA JKT, the contractors for the project.

Baada ya ukaguzi huo Majaliwa amewaagiza Katibu Mkuu Wizara ya Fedha, na Katibu Mkuu Wizara ya Utamaduni, Sanaa na Michezo kwa kushirikiana na Katibu Mkuu wa Shirikisho la Mpira Tanzania (TFF) kufanya tathmini ya kazi ya ujenzi na ukarabati wa viwanja vya mazoezi vitakavyotumika kwenye michuano hiyo.
Ametoa maelekezo hayo baada ya kupokea maelezo kutoka kwa Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa SUMA JKT, Brigedia Jenerali Petro Ngata ambaye ndiyo wakandarasi wa mradi huo.

He emphasized the need for close monitoring of every step of the construction and renovation, including a review of all materials, which the Director confirmed have already been purchased and are stored in the warehouse.
“Within the next three days, conduct the assessment, meet with the contractor, visit the warehouse, and verify all the materials that have been mentioned, and submit a report to me by April 1, 2025,” said Majaliwa.
The Director informed the Prime Minister that the construction and renovation of the venues have reached 80% completion. This includes the development of playing fields (pitches), changing rooms, and spectator stands.
Majaliwa inspected the Gymkhana field, Major General Isamunyo field, and the Law School field located in Simu 2000, Ubungo.
The 2025 CHAN tournament, which features local players, is scheduled to take place from August 2 to 30, 2025, after being postponed in 2024. Additionally, the AFCON tournament is expected to take place in 2027.
